Following on from the success of the opening Jam back in April, Dorset County Council, the Skatepark Committee and Dorset Community Action are planning a similar event to promote active, sustainable travel and safer skating as part of European Mobility Week.
The event is scheduled to start at 11am and run through until 5pm with lots of activities going on throughout the day including:-
- SK8 Jam with prizes
- Cycling Roadshow consisting of fun, wacky bikes and a cycle scaletrix featuring real bikes
- Promotional stalls – including skate and bike shops
- Refreshments & Hog Roast
- Live Entertainment
Upper Fairfield Road will be closed to allow people to enjoy the traffic free space for active travel.
The opening SK8 Jam saw over 400 skaters take part in the event and it is hoped there will be similar numbers this time around.
If you need convincing just how good the Dorchester Skatepark is and the talents of its local skaters check out the YouTube clip below.
You can guarantee there won’t be any shortage of skating talent on the 19th – see you there!
