After a briefly overcast start most of Dorchester's Carnival day enjoyed beautiful clear blue skies. What a contrast with last year's rain! The Saturday kicked off with live music on the stage at the south end of South St and a wide range of stalls for the crowds to enjoy. Colt45 (above), one of the finalists in the Dorset Young Performers Competition opened the all day offering of free music to an enthusiastic crowd (below). After a day soaking up the atmosphere the crowds gathered to line the Carnival route for a 6pm start. The Carnival Queen's float led the way followed by a colourful procession of floats and costumed performers.

Other events included a Party in the Park, music in the Borough Gardens on Saturday evening and a Teddy Bears' picnic on Sunday. The Dorchester Business Improvement District which manages this site was pleased to support the Carnival.
