Anonymous Festival
Saturday, August 15th, 2026Discover Dorchester’s Next Big Music Talent
Monday 31st August 2026 | 11am – 5pm | Borough Gardens, Dorchester | FREE Entry
Fancy an afternoon of live music, DJ sets and family fun, all for free? The Anonymous Festival is back in Dorchester this bank holiday Monday, and it’s the perfect way to round off the summer holidays. Now celebrating its 16th year, this beloved local festival puts a spotlight on Dorset’s young musical talent, with new indie bands bringing their sounds to the stage and solo singer-songwriters writing their very first sets.
The Anonymous Festival takes over Borough Gardens from 11am to 5pm, with gates open and entry completely free. It’s grown into one of the highlights of the Dorchester events calendar, and with an eclectic mix of live music and DJing in the line-up, there really is something for every taste.
A Stage for Dorset’s Rising Stars
The Anonymous Festival is all about giving young musicians a real stage and a real crowd. Performers range from young teens playing their first ever gig to more seasoned acts who’ve been cutting their teeth on the local scene for a few years, all sharing the same bill on the day.
Past line-ups have served up a brilliant mix of genres and styles. Previous years have featured indie rock four-pieces, Queen tribute act KINGS, acoustic singer-songwriters in the mould of Ed Sheeran, rock ‘n’ roll revivalists, and pop and RnB vocalists drawing on influences like Jorja Smith and Amy Winehouse. Dorchester Arts’ own Pop Club, a group of budding musicians under 18, has also taken to the stage in previous years. Whatever your taste in music, you’re likely to leave with a new artist to add to your playlist.
Fun for All the Family
There’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained beyond the main stage. Anonymous Festival has always been a proper family day out, with inflatables and bungee trampolines for the kids to bounce off their energy, plus craft activities and workshops to get stuck into throughout the day. From little ones queuing up for the bungee trampolines to adults reliving their own bouncy castle days, there’s a laid-back, festival-village feel to the whole afternoon.
Food, Drink and Chilling Out in the Gardens
No festival day is complete without something good to eat, and Anonymous Festival delivers on that front too. A selection of food providers will be on site throughout the day serving up a range of dishes, so you won’t go hungry between sets. The festival’s own kiosk will also be open all day, serving light snacks and drinks if you fancy something quick.
Borough Gardens itself makes for a gorgeous festival backdrop, with its Victorian bandstand, mature trees and plenty of space to spread out and soak in the gardens and its lively atmosphere.
