Every Saturday at The Great Field in Poundbury, Dorchester Parkrun brings together a lively mix of runners, joggers and walkers for a 5K that’s as chill or as challenging as you want it to be! Want to achieve your personal best or come for the fresh air? Either way, it’s a great way to kick off your weekend.

Dorchester Parkrun 5k around the Great Field Poundbury

Parkrun is a national free community event which takes place across multiple locations across the country. The Great Field Parkrun in Dorset has become a highly successful Parkrun, seeing many fitness fans come together for a 5k run, which takes place every Saturday, starting at 9am.

New to running and wondering if this club is for you. Don’t worry, because beginners are joining the fun every week. You don’t have to run the whole way (or at all, honestly). Plenty of people take on the Dorchester Parkrun 5K with a mix of jogging and walking. It’s all about moving at your own pace. The goal is to get active, feel good and enjoy the vibe. However you choose to tackle it, it’s your challenge, your way.

Post-Run Cuppa

Another thing we love about this Dorset running club? Everyone’s welcome to join the weekly post-run cuppa and catch-up! Every week after the 5K run, the crew heads over to the PiP (Pavilion in the Park) for a well-earned coffee, which starts at 9:30am. What better way to meet your new running crew and recharge after your hard work?

The Great Field Junior Parkrun

The Great Field Parkrun also hosts a fun, free Junior Parkrun every Sunday at 9am, for kids aged 4 to 14. It’s a shorter 2K route that’s all about getting active and having a great time!

Getting There & Parking

The Great Field Parkrun meets at The Great Field, St John Way, Dorchester, DT1 2FD. If you are getting there by road, please use the postcode DT1 2FD to locate the park or ‘what 3 words’, please use: toasters.disposing.wiped.

There are plenty of free on-street parking spots and car parks around Poundbury and the park for your convenience.

If you are arriving by train, The Great Field is located around an approximate 20 minute walk from Dorchester South and Dorchester West train stations.

If you are arriving by bus, First number 10, X51 and Dorset Council operate a number 6 bus that runs from Dorchester to Poundbury.
