Thursday, October 6th, 2022

Over 600 children with parents and other relatives joined in this year searching the town for clues to the Agatha Christie themed Dorchester Supersleuth competition and we have more than 80 correct entries over the two age groups. Here are the winners who received their prizes this week at Shire Hall Museum…

Phil Gordon, Project Director or the Dorchester BID and organiser of the popular annual Supersleuth competition with prizes of spending vouchers for the town’s shops commented:

“As the undisputed Queen of British Supersleuthers, Agatha Christie was a great suggestion from the Shire Hall Museum with their exhibition so, perfect timing! It was a pleasure working with Tamsin and her team who between them, managed to come up with 120 Agatha Christie-related questions which was quite impressive!”

With over 600 sticker albums handed out we were very pleased with the engagement of the children this year and we had over eighty correct sticker album entries. We got some lovely feedback from shops, parents and the children who say its something they always look forward to doing every year.

It was a delight to hear some lovely comments again this year from the children, parents and business owners as everyone seemed to enjoy the theme of the world’s greatest Supersleuth author! Ive had several reports of families starting to read some of her novels too which is lovely. I enjoyed providing some cryptic clues on twitter and Instagram too!”

Tamsin Little (comms. & fund-raising manager for the Museum) said:

“Being part of this year’s Supersleuth competition has been a brilliant experience. With our Agatha Christie exhibition over the summer, it felt like the perfect time for Shire Hall Museum to partner with Dorchester BID for this incredible competition.

We have loved meeting all the participants over the summer and hearing thier feedback. On behalf of the Museum, I’d like to thank everyone who took part in this year’s competition and congratulate all the winners.”

Isabella has said “I really enjoyed the super sleuth competition, it was really fun to do in the summer holidays, I liked the stickers that had symbols on and you had to work out what book it was from the list, I’m so happy I won”.

I asked Reuben if he enjoyed the stamp collecting this year and what he enjoyed about it and he said ” Yes, I loved it. I liked going into the shops and asking the lady for the sticker.” Reubens’ mum added “I think it is a great activity.
