Raise a Glass for Beerex Festival 2013
Friday, February 1st, 2013This weekend sees the return of the annual Beerex Beer Festival in Dorchester, and 2013 is an extra special year because it’s the 25th anniversary of the festival. It runs today and Saturday, with 11am-3pm lunchtime sessions and 6pm-11.30pm evening sessions.
It’s taking place at the Corn Exchange on the High Street, and more than 80 real ales and ciders from all over the UK are on hand for you to try, including some special brews just for the festival. There will also be live music in the evening, although a quiet room will be available for those that would prefer to drink in peace and quiet.
The Beerex Festival was started back in 1988 by the West Dorset Campaign for Real Ale and the Dorchester Round Table, and as well as being a lot of fun and an opportunity to try some great beer and cider, the purpose of the festival has always been to raise money for fantastic local charities.
One of the biggest beneficiaries of the 2013 Beerex festival will be MV Freedom, a charity which provides boat trips for people with disabilities. The Dorset Piddle Brewery are the main sponsor for the event, and local businesses have been encouraged to help out by sponsoring a barrel. You can see the full list of barrel sponsors here.
