DBID’s Plans for 2014 and Beyond
Friday, January 10th, 2014Happy 2014 everyone! For our first blog of the year, we’d like to look ahead to the projects we will be working on over the year and throughout the rest of the Dorchester BID’s term. Here’s a couple of the things we have in store –
Pay on Exit Parking
You may have already heard about our POE parking scheme. The idea is to allow people to pay only for the exact amount of parking time they need – so you neither have to find yourself overpaying or rushing back to the car before your ticket runs out!
The POE technology will allow you to pay for parking by phone and credit card, or set up an online account which can do an automatic direct debit for each time you stay in a participating car park.
We have got a promise of a pilot before Easter, so it will be exciting to see how shoppers take to the scheme, and hopefully we will be able to roll it out further in the near future.
Workshops and Seminars
This year we will continue to offer subsidised and free training for BID members. This will include a ‘Twitter for Business’ masterclass in February – if you have attended any of the previous Twitter seminars you will know they are a great opportunity to get hands-on, ask lots of questions, and really understand how Twitter can help your business. If you’d like to attend the February masterclass, please get in touch and let us know.
Other Projects
There are a huge number of exciting DBID projects coming up in the next year and over the rest of the BID’s term. They include refurbishing the town’s benches, adding new cycle racks, installing free wi-fi points around the town, adding more plants and greenery, and much, much more. It’s going to be a fantastic year, and we’ll be working hard to make Dorchester as good as it possibly can be.
