Dorchester BID Christmas Roundup

Friday, December 21st, 2012

Christmas is almost upon us! Just a couple of shopping days left now, so we expect the town centre to be buzzing this weekend as everyone rushes to get all those last minute presents. If you’re stuck for ideas, you may find our Virtual Dorchester tool useful for knowing where to get interesting and unique gifts in Dorchester.

If you’re going to be shopping or looking for fun things to do here over the Christmas period, here are a few things that might be of interest…

Ambassadors and Street Wardens

The Dorchester Ambassadors have also been doing an amazing job recently keeping people happy and get them parked with minimum fuss. We have had some brilliant feedback on Twitter from visitors who have found them really helpful both for parking and for getting shopping recommendations.

The ambassadors will be on duty on Christmas Eve, which should come in handy for those last minute shoppers! They have had to endure some horrible weather this week so if you see one, please give them some encouragement.

You may also have noticed the BID Street Wardens out and about in the last few weeks – they’ve been looking out for businesses and helping them with any security issues that have arisen, and the response to them has also been very positive indeed.

Lighting up Dorchester!

We’re very much looking forward to Dorchester’s Solstice Candle lighting event, which will be in South Street tomorrow from 2-5pm in the Barclays bank area. Everyone is welcome to come along and light a candle to celebrate the Winter Solstice – ceramic tealight holders will be provided to all by Parasite Ceramics, with support from the BID and the Dorset Design and Heritage Forum.

That’s it for the final blog this side of Christmas – have a splendid Christmas in Dorchester and a wonderful new year everyone!
