Dorchester Marathon 2017 Success
Tuesday, May 30th, 2017
Congratulations to all of the 1,700 runners that took part in the Dorchester full marathon 2017 and the Casterbridge half marathon this weekend.
What a turnout for the inaugural marathon event!
The race, began and ended at the Cokers Frome showground, and the runners winded their way through part of Dorchester town centre before heading out through West Stafford, Tincleton, Briantspuddle and on to Puddletown. Once passed the 23 mile point at Higher Waterston, the route then headed back towards Dorchester and the welcome site of the finish line.
The Casterbridge half marathon followed a similar route to start but cut through Puddletown Forest before joining the full marathon route and bringing everyone home together.
We have heard lots of great feedback about the organisation of the event; the feed stations; the marshals and especially the Dorchester locals that lined the route shouting encouragement to all the runners.
The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and other local charities will have all benefitted from the tremendous effort by all those involved and we are sure this has put the Dorchester Marathon firmly on the event schedule for the future.
Here are a few photos we took on the day
