Skatepark Jam 2013

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013

One of the most successful and popular annual events in Dorchester, the Skatepark Jam, is back again next weekend for its fifth outing, and the signs are it could be the best one so far.

Once again the venue is the Skate Park on Weymouth Avenue, opposite the entrance to Dorchester South station. The date is Saturday, 27th April, and the event runs all day from 11am to 6pm.

The mini-festival is organised by the Skate Park Committee, a group of dedicated volunteers who always do a great job of ensuring spectators and participants have a fantastic time. This year they’ve lined up live music, stalls and food vendors to complement the main events – the dramatic displays of jumps and tricks in the bowl jams, plaza jams and mini ramp jams taking place throughout the day.

There will be a number of free give-aways and prizes, including cash prizes for the winning competitors.

The skate jam is open to all ages, with the caveat that anyone who wants to participate is advised to bring a helmet and proper safety gear. There will be a number of activities for younger children, including junior skating sessions and lots more hands-on fun.
