15 Free Events At Dorchester Borough Gardens in 2016Monday, May 16th, 2016
This summer sees the return of a host of free events being held in the idyllic Dorchester Borough Gardens which are set to run right through to October. 15 events in total are scheduled to take place in the beautiful gardens which attracts thousands of families each year.
The festivities start in June with the Gypsy, Roma, Traveller Family Event with this year’s occasion is set to be bigger and better than ever before. The following day sees a special celebration picnic being held to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday. Party in the park returns for another year including the annual hilarious 4 legged pub race which is part of the Dorchester Carnival weekend celebrations with proceeds going towards the good local causes supported by Dorchester Round Table in the local area. The last weekend in June the gardens will host live music from Sylva, a four piece band performing covers from Louis Armstrong to Lady Gaga.
July is a packed month for events in the gardens. Live music will be performed during the Armed Forces Day, Swingtime in the Gardens plus the Stoke Sub Hamdon Brass Band who will be welcomed on Sunday 24th July. The outdoor cinema returns this year where you can snuggle up under a blanket with some popcorn to watch a family friendly movie. This year’s film is yet to be announced.
Following the great success that was last year’s inaugural event, the Cider Festival returns again on Saturday 20th August for more apple juice fun! Bands, bouncy castles and food stalls will fill the gardens along with the many cider stalls. The following day the sounds of Sinatra, Michael Bublé and many more will be performed by Tony Lowe to raise money for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
