Half Term Holiday Fun at the County Museum

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013

This Saturday, the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester hosts its big annual family sleepover, with a midnight feast and loads of science fiction themed activities from 5.30pm onwards.

The event is aimed mainly at children aged between 7 and 12, and new and old participants are invited to bring their sleeping bags and mats and enjoy this exciting evening of fun and games.

Last year’s event (which had a dinosaur theme) was a huge sell-out success, and the organisers at the museum are hoping for a repeat of that this year. This year they’ve picked a sci-fi theme, and tickets are selling well, so pre-booking is recommended to make sure you don’t miss out.

Tickets are available from the County Museum shop or can be booked by emailing shop@dorsetcountymuseum.org  or calling 01305 756827. Prices are £12.50 for children and £10 for adults.

Food, Drink and Sleeping

Free tea, coffee and soft drinks will be served all evening, and there will be a breakfast provided on Sunday morning. There will also be a midnight feast for everyone to enjoy.

Children must be accompanied by an adult parent or carer, and each adult can bring up to three children. There will be a choice of different sleeping areas, with some galleries ideal for large groups and some kept a bit quieter for younger children.

Activities and Costumes

One of the highlights of the evening will be a 3D model making session with Darrell Wakelam, with all materials provided and the chance to take anything you make home with you. There will also be displays of props and costumes from famous science fiction tv shows and movies, as well as a prize for the best kids’ sci-fi fancy dress costume.
