Dorchester BID Social Media Seminar
Friday, May 6th, 2011
Dorchester businesses have been exploring the benefits of Twitter, Facebook and blogging in a social media seminar run by Dorchester BID, in conjunction with local digital marketers Key Multimedia.
A couple of weeks ago we organized the first seminar for businesses interested in this topic, and it was so successful that we scheduled a second one which took place on Wednesday this week.
The session looked at how changing attitudes and perceptions of the web have affected the way people gather information and make decisions on purchasing products and services.
New developments such as social networks and mobile web have led to many companies adjusting their web presence in order to respond to the new online behaviours of their customers.
Social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin were covered in depth in the workshop, with the potential pitfalls and stumbling blocks discussed as well as the benefits and advantages of using these networks.
As a follow-up to this seminar, we’ve arranged for a social media workshop to take place at the end of the month at the Wessex Royale Hotel, the purpose of which will be to guide local businesses through the process of setting up and using social networking profiles, and overcoming any problems they might encounter.
If you think you might like to attend the workshop, call Phil on 07799 494886 for details. It will be on the 24th May, and will cost £39 for BID members and £129 for non-members.
