Dorchester Literary Festival – Looking Forward and Back

Alison Weir - British author and historian
Alison Weir will be speaking at the festival in October.

Last year was the first ever Dorchester Literary Festival and it proved to be a great success with well attended events and enthusiastic audiences. Among the highlights were talks by Kate Adie, Dom Joly, Tracy Chevalier, Richard and Judy and Julian Fellowes. After the event everyone was delighted that at last Dorchester has its own festival.

Building on last year’s success our aim is to make the 2016 festival even more exciting. The extended programme will run from 19-23rd October. It is already shaping up well and we are confident it will be better as well as bigger.

It’s early days but we are thrilled that among our speakers will be

  • Lord Dannatt,
  • Alison Weir,
  • Rachel Joyce,
  • Dinah Jefferies,
  • Damien Lewis,
  • Elizabeth Luard,
  • Tracy Chevalier,
  • Minette Walters
  • Kate Adie.
Richard Dannatt
Lord Richard Dannatt will be speaking at the festival in October.

As before the subjects will cover a wide range, including history, fiction, crime, biography, natural history, politics, health, sport, gardening and food.

We shall announce the full programme in the summer and tickets will be on sale online and from the TIC from late August. Keep watching our Dorchester Literary Festival website and facebook page for the latest news.

We look forward to welcoming you to Dorchester’s Literary Festival in October.

Paul Atterbury and Janet Gleeson
