Friday, September 2nd, 2011

Everyone likes to dine out from time to time, and here in Dorchester we are spoilt for choice when it comes to fabulous restaurants serving up delicious food from across the globe. Here are some of the best eateries in the town for you to try when you next get the urge to eat out…

Rajpoot

Begin your meal with a delicious and delicate starter, such as chargrilled fresh water prawns and coastal spices to get your taste buds firing. Next, choose from a wide and diverse range of curry dishes – everything from avocado stuffed roasted chicken mossada to tandoori salmon tikka with honey, dill and lemongrass. Add an irresistible side dish, like Mumbai style baby potatoes, and you’ve got everything you need for a truly spectacular meal and a new favourite Indian restaurant!

Sienna

It may look small and unremarkable from the outside, but behind the modest exterior of Sienna is a very special restaurant indeed. It is Dorset’s only eatery to have a much sought after Michelin star, and in fact the first in the county since 1983. It’s run by chef Russell Brown and wife Elena, who serve up a stunning array of creative and indulgent dishes that have been crafted to a fine and balanced perfection using their long years of culinary experience.

The restaurant runs three menus – lunch, dinner and a six course tasting menu, and they like to keep things fresh by changing or adding one or two new dishes to the menu on a month-by-month basis. Their website contains prices, menus and reviews, and you can keep up to date with all the goings-on at Sienna by following their Twitter @SiennaDorset

La Caverna

Another long-running Dorchester favourite, La Caverna is the epitomy of delicious, vibrant Italian cuisine. There’s plenty to get excited about on the menu, with pasta dishes, pizzas and a wide variety of other options, all bursting with authentic Italian flavours. They also offer an extensive wine list, having taken time and care in selecting the perfect wines to go with their food.

Again, their website is a useful place to see what’s on offer, with menus, wine lists, and also a photo gallery showing you the atmospheric interior of the restaurant.
