DorchLive 2021 – A Summer of Great Music in Dorchester’s High StreetThursday, September 9th, 2021
DorchLive 2021 made a welcome return this summer to offer live music in Dorchester town centre.
For six weeks weeks outside The Last Post on the corner of South Street/New Street, the sound of great music played. Giving both locals and visitors some much-needed good cheer and atmosphere to accompany the Saturday shop.
A range of different acts provided live musical entertainment to the town’s shoppers in two 1.5 hour performances at 11am & 1:00pm on Saturdays.
£600 raised for local charity projects
Although DorchLive was not planned to be a charitable series of events, the kind donations from the public meant that local charities will benefit.
Phil Gordon, Project Director at Dorchester BID commented:
“Despite making it clear to the public that the acts were fully paid for by Dorchester BID on behalf of the levy payers of Dorchester, many people loved the music so much that they insisted giving donation money.
From these kind contributions we have collected a staggering £600 which we’ll be using to make a donation to the chosen charities of Gareth Jones, The Mayor of Dorchester.
The two charities are a new community café and shop in Trinity Street, under development by a team from Mencap Mid-Dorset and the GAP Project, a community garden in Lubbecke Way.”
We hope everyone enjoyed the acts this year – which performances did you see?
The star performers of DorchLive 2021
We Are Wilson
The first DorchLive 2021 act was We Are Wilson. The guitar based vocal harmony duo played a range of classics from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Great work gents!
In2 The Blue
Week two saw the singing guitar duo In2 The Blue playing anthems and other favourites. Hailing from Devon, In2 The Blue brought a big, beautiful acoustic sound to Dorchester for the day. A quality act that covers a range of styles and decades. Always a pleasure to see and hear, thank you!
Ed Hintze was our star man for week three to deliver piano and vocal renditions of classics from the likes of ABBA, ZZ Top and Elton John.

Velvety smooth singing from the soul with a perfect blend of old and contemporary classics. This offered a real touch of class, thanks to the talented Emily Jean for a top performance.
The ever popular Decadettes are a Dorset-based vintage singing group bringing new life to old classics. Their performance at DorchLive this year was a real crowd pleaser, taking the audience through the decades in style!

The local singer/songwriter and fiddle playing extraordinaire Nina Garcia was the perfect finale to DorchLive. For the last Saturday of this summer’s sessions we welcomed the incredibly talented musician to perform a fine selection of genre-spanning crowd favourites.
