THIS EVENT HAS PASSED!
For such a relatively small town, we in Dorchester are extremely privileged to get so many wonderful musicians playing in our town. From classical pianists to blues bands to multicultural global music ensembles – we really do get the best of all worlds!
Here are a few of the fantastic Dorchester shows to look out for this month. Remember to keep an eye on the Dorchester events page for updates on new live performances and shows in the town throughout the year.
12th June: BB Hall Unplugged
B.B Hall Unplugged are Tony Day (Harmonica), Tom Hopkins (vocals, 6 and 12 string guitars), Mark Warder (acoustic bass and vocals), and Charlie Waygood (percussion). Their repertoire includes a generous helping of blues, a bit of Americana, and anything else that takes their fancy. If the music of greats like J.J. Cale, John Martyn and Creedence Clearwater Revival appeals to you, don’t miss out on this show.
They will be appearing at the Arts Centre on Sunday 12th – a great way to wrap up the weekend!
17th June: John Bullock
John Bullock of folk duo y’Strels comes to the Arts Centre on 17th to perform material from his new solo album ‘Camera Obscura’. He’s brought together Dorset rural melodies and storytelling with a collection of songs rich in emotion and local tradition. A must for folk fans!
24th June: Shiva Nova
Internationally acclaimed Indian fusion ensemble Shiva Nova return to Dorchester this month, with their wonderfully eclectic mix of classical Indian music, jazz and dance music. They are scheduled to spend two days offering world music teaching to students from local schools, and those students will showcase the results at the beginning of the performance at the Corn Exchange on 24th. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy subtle eastern grooves and mesmerising world music.
