Museums at Night Returns!

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014

One of our favourite Dorchester traditions is just around the corner once again – Museums at Night, the annual event in which all the town’s museums, plus two other heritage attractions, join together to offer late opening for one fantastic value ticket price.

It’s all taking place on the evening of Saturday 17th May, from the hours of 5pm to 9pm. The price for a family ticket (for 2 adults and up to 4 children) is just £10 when bought in advance, and this can be bought from any of the participating venues, as well as the Tourist Information Centre in Antelope Walk.

We’re incredibly lucky to have no fewer than six museums in Dorchester taking part in the evening – The Dorset County Museum, The Dinosaur Museum, The Tutankhamun Exhibition, The Teddy Bear Museum, The Keep Military Museum, and The Terracotta Warriors Museum. Entrance to the Roman Town House and Max Gate will also be included in the ticket price.

Museums at Night really does offer something for everybody, whatever your interest. Whether its ancient history and archaeology or teddy bears and local literature, it’s all there to be explored. And this year there is the added bonus of the Museums at Night Trail, a series of clues scattered across the museums which need to be put together to solve a puzzle, with all successful puzzlers entered into a draw to win a special prize.

If you haven’t been before, do not miss out this year! For more details, visit the Tourist Information Centre or contact them on Twitter at @DorchesterTIC.

Always great fun evening and the most amazing value for money. How many of us locals have never quite managed to see some of the county towns exhibitions and museums despite having them on our door step?

This is a chance to have a taster of all of them with a bite out in the middle to recharge. Next time you have friends visiting you can then suggest which ones they should try out.
