Friday, May 31st, 2024

Now that the days are getting warmer and the evenings are a lot lighter – there is no better time than now to enjoy the beautiful weather by treating yourself to an outdoor meal, or light refreshment, in Dorchester! Check our top recommendations for outdoor eating in Dorchester below.

Vivo Lounge

Vivo Lounge is one of the most popular lounge restaurants in Dorchester – and it’s easy to see why! What was once part of the old Dorchester brewery, has recently been converted into a modern and welcoming restaurant and bar! Whilst there is plenty of seating inside, we highly recommend that you make the most of the sunshine by sitting outside on Vivo Lounge’s well-kept patio area!

Whilst conveniently located near the market carpark, this lowered outdoor eating area is expertly shielded from the hustle and bustle of the road above – providing a quiet alcove for you and your family or friends to enjoy a delicious meal. Vivo Lounge offers a wide food and drinks menu, featuring various options including cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, children’s meals, gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian dishes.

Oxfords Bakery

If you’re exploring the high-street and find yourself growing a little peckish, we’d highly recommend popping into Oxfords Bakery for a range of mouth-watering baked goods! This popular artisanal bakery in Dorchester sells baked goods all made fresh on-site using stoneground organic flour from local suppliers. Such baked treats include sausage rolls, traditional cornish pasties, cakes, doughnuts, flans – however, should you prefer something a tad lighter, Oxfords also sell a selection of nutritious salads and vegetable bowls.

Although limited, the outdoor seating at Oxfords Bakery allows you to soak up the vibrant atmosphere of Dorchester high-street! Through the summerin Dorchester, there will also be plenty of muscians and street performers dotted across the high-street, meaning that you can enjoy some live music whilst enjoying your food.

The Secret Garden Café

The Secret Garden Café is a hugely-popular and recent addition to Dorchester’s range of cafes and resturants! This family-run café and resturant serves a expansive range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free meals and light bites. From waffles to pancakes, brownies to home-baked cakes, burgers to traditional English breakfasts – whether you’re plant-based or not, we guarantee you’ll love dining here!

Located in the historic setting of Napper Mite, The Secret Garden Café lies up to it’s name by offering guests the option of dining in their beautiful courtyard and garden. As Nappers Mite court is separated from the high-street, The Secret Garden provides the perfect opportunity to peacefully soak up the sun whilst enjoying plant-based food in Dorchester.

Convivial Rabbit Micropub

The Convivial Rabbit Micropub is a charming freehouse located just off Trinity Street. Serving a selection of locally brewed ales, beers, ciders, wines and spirits from the local British breweries, The Convivial Rabbit Micropub allows guests to take a moment to enjoy a drink in an authentic and cosy environment.

We believe that this local pub is truly a hidden gem in Dorchester – and much like Dr who’s tardis, The Convivial Rabbit Micropub is deceivingly larger than it looks from the outside! If the weather is decent however, we highly recommend that you opt to sitting outside in the secluded courtyard which conveniently located just beside the entrance to this much-loved micropub in Dorchester.
