Summer Events in Dorchester 2022
Tuesday, July 26th, 2022Summer is here and Dorchester is set for a packed season of festivals, outdoor shows and events in 2022. Every weekend in late July and August there will be something taking place in Borough Gardens or Maumbury Rings. As well as the Dorchester BID-funded DorchLive live music in South Street every Saturday until September.
Here’s a pick of some of the events and entertainment on offer, in and around Dorchester in summer 2022.

DorchLive
Every Saturday until 3rd September, 11am & 1pm, South Street, Dorchester
Every Saturday from July 16th through to September 3rd, a different artist will perform next to M&Co, opposite Napper’s Mite in South Street/New Street. Performances run for 1.5 hours at 11am & 1:00pm.

Summer of Sunflowers
Dorchester is being taken over by beautiful bright sunflowers this summer to raise money for Dorset County Hospital’s Kingfisher Children’s Unit and Cherkasy Hospital in Ukraine. Look out for the wonderful sunflower themed shop windows across town and the sunflower varieties in Borough Gardens.
In August, there will then be a scenic walk leading you out to The Dorset Sunflower Trail at Maiden Castle Farm.

Dorchester Supersleuth
Dorchester Supersleuth 2022 picture clue competition is now live! This year Dorchester BID have partnered with Shire Hall Museum to create this summer’s Supersleuth trail, in celebration of the Museum’s Agatha Christie exhibition. It’s the perfect activity for the kids in the summer holidays. Find out more about this year’s competition here.

HengeFest is a family fun day in Maumbury Rings with activities that celebrate the sacred history of the space and its vibrant history. The event marks the final day of Home of Hillforts & Henges series of events – for an epic day of discovery and family fun. FREE ENTRY!

Dorchester Cider Festival

The 7th annual Dorchester Round Table – Dorchester Cider Festival returns to Borough Gardens on Saturday 20th August 2022 at 14:00.
A FREE to-attend family friendly celebration of the regions finest cider producers, special guests, great food and live music throughout the day. There is a fee for the festival cup which goes to the costs involved in organising the event with all proceeds going to local charities. Open Air Cinema
Saturday 27th August, 2pm, Maumbury Rings
A free Open Air Cinema is being held in Maumbury Rings, Dorchester, on Saturday the 27 August 2022. Showing the visually beautiful Moana at 2pm, followed by the 1980s classic Back to the Future at 5.30pm! During the interval there will be live music from the incredible 8 piece band The Skalatans.
It is encouraged that you arrive early and bring a blanket or deckchair to get yourselves set up for the day. There will be hot food to purchase, including wood fired pizzas and hot dogs as well as candy floss, popcorn, ice-cream, & delicious coffee and cakes – everything you need to complete your cinema experience!

Anonymous Festival
Monday 29th August, 11am, Borough Gardens
Anonymous Festival returns in 2022 celebrating its 12th anniversary! Taking place on on the bank holiday Monday, this year the free event will be held at Borough Gardens in Dorchester – gates open from 11am-5pm, with live music from noon.
Anonymous supports a range of young local musicians, playing live music and DJing. With an eclectic range of sounds there really is something for everyone at the festival. A range of activities will be available to enjoy, including several inflatables, bungee trampolines, & fab crafts, as well as the opportunity to handle exotic animals, or try your hand at archery!
