Circus Cortex Coming To Dorchester

Tuesday, August 11th, 2026 Circus Cortex

It’s wild, it’s exhilarating, it’s entertaining, it’s… a whole lot of belly laughs and really great entertainment. Circus Cortex is coming to Dorchester this summer, and we’re ready for the laughter to begin.

For five days only, the Big Top is pitching up its showground at The Great Field in Poundbury, and it’s bringing one of the UK’s most talked-about live family shows with it. If you love watching shows that leave you feeling immersed in laughter, then this one is worth a visit. Round up whoever’s up for a good time, and get ready for an evening (or afternoon) you’ll be talking about long after the tent has packed up and moved on. Here’s everything you need to know before the circus comes to town.

What To Expect In The Circus Cortex

This year’s show has a name, and it’s a good one: BIZZZAR. It comes from the award-winning team behind Glory, Warriors, Golden Age, The Edge and Masquerade, and they’re calling it their most dazzling performance yet. Having seen what this lot get up to, we’re inclined to believe them.

So what actually happens under the Big Top? Imagine a world where gravity is somewhat…not required? Yet laughter is mandatory, and every single moment does its best to catch you off guard. One minute you’re gasping at daredevil acrobatics and jaw-dropping stunts, the next you’re doubled over laughing at comedy chaos and physical antics turned all the way up to eleven.

It’s colourful. It’s loud. It’s a proper firework-finale of a show, with kaleidoscopic visuals bursting across the stage. It’s a full-blown spectacle, and it’s the kind of show you go to where you can truly expect the unexpected.

Barrels of Fun For All Ages

One of the loveliest things about a show like this is that nobody gets left out. Whether you’re 8 or 80, BIZZZAR is built to sweep everyone up in the same wave of oohs, aahs and belly laughs.

The little ones will be wide-eyed at the acrobatics and the colour. The grown-ups will find themselves laughing far harder than they expected. And the teenagers who insisted they were “too cool” for the circus? Give it ten minutes. They’ll be grinning like the rest of you.

It makes for a brilliant day out with the family, a fun thing to do with friends, or a genuinely different date if you fancy shaking up the usual routine. Summer holidays can be a long old stretch when you’re trying to keep everyone entertained, and this is exactly the sort of thing that saves the day.

Getting There, Parking & Show Tickets

The Big Top is setting up at The Great Field in Poundbury. Tickets are available online through Circus Cortex, and booking ahead means one less thing to think about on the day. Just turn up, find your seats, and enjoy the show. Book the Circus Cortex here.

Here are the dates for your diary:

  • Thursday 13th August
  • Friday 14th August
  • Saturday 15th August
  • Sunday 16th August
  • Monday 17th August

Five days, and then it’s gone, so it’s worth grabbing your tickets sooner rather than later, especially if you’ve got a particular day in mind. Weekends tend to go quickest, as you’d imagine.

If you’re driving, Poundbury has parking of free on-street parking nearby The Great Field.

Visiting Dorchester in Summer

Our advice? Don’t let the circus be the only reason you come. Make a day of it. Dorchester is a lovely spot in the summer. The high street is packed with independent shops to browse, and there are loads of cafés and pubs to stop off at. Get a coffee, do some shopping, grab lunch somewhere nice, and wander over to the circus already in a good mood.

Travelling in for the show? Make a proper trip of it. There’s history all over the place, plenty of green space to sit and relax in, and some brilliant food throughout Dorchester.

Whatever you get up to, a summer day out in Dorchester with Circus Cortex in the middle of it is going to be a good one. We can’t wait to see the Big Top go up, and we can’t wait to see you there.
