Looking Back on Five Years of DBID Projects
Thursday, June 6th, 2013As you may already know, the Dochester BID is coming up for renewal this month, and already extensive work has been done on planning for projects we would like to do over the next 5 years if the BID is successful in the ballot. We recently held a poll to identify the projects that BID members most wanted to see in a new term (the results are here).
This week on our Twitter account (@DorchesterBID) we’ve been looking back on the projects we worked on over the 1st BID term. Using the hashtag #DBIDProjects we tweeted some of our most successful initiatives:
20,000 Town centre maps produced and handed out by Ambassadors in car parks and around town #DBIDProjects

£10,000 spent on improving the Christmas lights in Dorchester for 2012 (Total over £35k over the last 5 years!) #DBIDProjects

Negotiated with the Council to install the pay by phone parking system RingGo in 2009#DBIDProjects

3 Defib units purchased for town (and training for 12 business reps) £3500 #DBIDProjects ow.ly/lzHfA

These are just a small proportion of the many, many projects we were involved in (either in the lead role or offering support and advice), and we’re pleased to say that the great majority of these were a success. The challenge for the coming years will be to continue these popular initiatives and combine them with new, innovative ideas to ensure we stay one step ahead of the competition.
News this week that Weymouth has balloted to become a BID town vindicates the work DBID has done, and if we get a second term we’ll need to up our game to make sure we continue to maintain our position as the most vibrant, outstanding small town centre in Dorset.
