Brewery Square was transformed into a living memorial, commemorating the enormous military build-up across Dorset that paved the way for the D-Day landings. Organised in partnership with the Armour & Embarkation team and The Military Vehicle Trust, the free event welcomed families, local residents and visitors for a memorable day celebrating Dorset’s important role in the Second World War.
One of the biggest attractions was the impressive display of meticulously restored World War Two military vehicles. The Square came alive with the distinctive sights, sounds and even the smells of history as historic engines rumbled into life. Visitors had the opportunity to get up close to these remarkable vehicles, speak with their owners and volunteers, and gain a fascinating insight into the stories behind the machines and the people who operated them.
